  • PCB Dynamic Pressure Sensors

    broken image

PCB®'s full line of piezoelectric pressure sensors is available for various dynamic pressure measurements.

The ability to measure small pressure fluctuations at high static pressure levels is a characteristic of piezoelectric pressure sensors. With ICP® amplified output, these sensors are ideal for continuous operation in "dirty" environments, underwater, and field test applications with long cables. No special low-noise cables or charge amplifiers are needed. These sensors are practically the ideal choice for all dynamic pressure applications within a sensor temperature range of -320 to +275°F (-196 to +135°C). For higher temperature applications, charge output sensors can be used, with a maximum temperature of +1200°F (+650°C).

Although piezoelectric pressure sensors are primarily recommended for dynamic pressure measurements, certain quartz pressure sensors have a longer discharge time constant, which extends low-frequency capability. This allows for static calibration and quasi-static pressure measurements over a period of several seconds.

The solid-state construction of piezoelectric pressure sensors provides a wide linear measurement range. Therefore, for most models, PCB can confidently offer calibration at 100% and 10% of full-scale output.

GENERAL PURPOSE PRESSURE SENSORS FOR HIGH FREQUENCY

PCB® dynamic pressure sensors set the standard for ultra-fast, microsecond response across a wide amplitude and frequency range. These characteristics make them excel in high-frequency applications where a minimal sensor diameter is required.

    Features:

    • Fast rise time of quartz elements: ≤1 μsec
    • Ultra-high resonant frequency: ≥500 kHz
    • Frequency-tailored output without the “ringing” characteristic of most other sensors
    • Internal acceleration compensation minimizes sensitivity to shock and vibration

    Applications:

    • Combustion research
    • Explosive component testing (e.g., detonators, explosive bolts)
    • Measurementof blast shock waves

GROUND ISOLATED ICP® PRESSURE SENSORS FOR HIGH FREQUENCY

The PCB® 102B series is a grounded version of the 113B series. These sensors have the same features and benefits as the 113B series, with the added advantage of isolation to help prevent ground loop issues.

    Tip from TECHS:

    Features:

    • Ground isolation prevents 50/60 Hz noise and ground loops.
    • Ablativecoating option “CA” is available for flash protection.

    SUB-MINIATURE ICP® PRESSURE SENSORS

The PCB® ultra-miniature 105C dynamic pressure sensor is specifically designed for installation in extremely tight spaces.

Due to its robust solid diaphragm design, these transducers are well-suited for cavitation research. Measurement ranges include 100 psi and 1000 psi.

    Features:

    • Integral machined diaphragm for long service life
    • Fast rise time of quartz elements: ≤2 μsec
    • Resonant frequency: ≥250 kHz
