PCB introduces the 1/2-inch pre-polarized low-noise microphone model 378A04
378A04 is a microphone system composed of a high-sensitivity microphone and a low-noise preamplifier, marking the industry's first pre-polarized IEC 61094-4 low-noise microphone and preamplifier system. It enables you to measure extremely low amplitudes, which was previously only possible with externally polarized solutions. The theoretical noise floor of this microphone system is 5.5 dBA, and it comes with all the advantages of pre-polarized systems. You only need a signal conditioner or data acquisition card that provides ICP (IEPE) power (note: requires 4mA), eliminating the need for additional external polarization equipment. This allows it to share amplifiers with other ICP sensors, significantly reducing setup costs and simplifying installation.
The 378A04 is currently used as a designated test microphone by Apple in the United States and by many acoustic processing manufacturers.
